SGM Pahang Participates in Community Chinese New Year Celebration, Fostering Multicultural Harmony and Friendship
On 21 February and 1 March 2026, SGM Pahang participated in a community Chinese New Year celebration, held at the field near the traffic lights of SJKC Pei Chai in Air Putih, Kuantan. The service centre of Semambu assemblyperson YB Chan Chun Kuang organised this event, with Persatuan Cerita Kuantan Pahang and Persatuan Perdagangan Dan Pelaburan GuangXi Pahang (PPPGP) as coorganisers.
The 18-day festive celebration featured a wide-ranging programme including culture performances and themed competitions, attracting many local residents, and creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.
Under the theme “Welcoming Spring with Joy, Gathering Friends from All Directions,” over 40 SGM Pahang members took to the stage to present performances such as a Chinese New Year song medley, an original stage play and traditional dances. The Hope Fife-and-Drum Corps and Chao Yang Gymnastic Team also delivered energetic performances, further enlivening the atmosphere and delighting the community.
On 1 March, SGM representatives joined friends from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds at a special programme titled “Kongsi Raya Buka Puasa (Hari Raya Iftar Gathering),” where everyone shared an iftar meal and engaged in friendly exchanges. Participants further strengthened mutual understanding and unity in the community through meaningful interactions.
Through this event, SGM Pahang supported the development of community culture activities, strengthening connections with local residents. Their heartfelt performances also allowed the community to share the joy and festive spirit of Chinese New Year.
